What to expect at your first CrossFit class

Walking into a CrossFit gym for the first time can feel like a lot. Here's exactly what happens at FirePit, start to finish.

It starts with a free intro

Before you ever touch a barbell, you sit down with a coach. We ask where you're starting, what you want to change and what's gotten in the way before. Then we give you a quick tour of the gym. No sales pitch, no workout you're not ready for.

Foundations comes before class

New to CrossFit? You don't jump straight into a full class. Foundations is small group coaching on bodyweight movements and light weights. A coach teaches and demonstrates each movement, checks your range of motion and shows you the scaled version, so you're moving safely from day one.

You still get a real workout at the end. We guarantee you'll get sweaty and you'll have fun.

How a class runs

Here's how our CrossFit classes run once you're in:

  • A certified coach leads the warm up.
  • You learn the day's movements with instruction and a demo.
  • You do the work while your coach watches and corrects your movement.
  • You finish together. About 60 minutes, door to door.

Everything scales

The whole class does the same workout, scaled in weight, intensity and movement. That's how a total beginner and a competitive CrossFitter can train side by side. Your hard and your neighbor's hard don't have to match.

What to bring

Comfortable clothes you can move in, shoes you can train in and a water bottle. We have changing rooms and a purified water dispenser, so you can come straight from work.
